WHAT CAN I DO IF I GET A BAD REVIEW FROM A CUSTOMER?
Bad reviews are sometimes unavoidable. In many cases, you just can't please everyone, and a less than savory review might pop up. The best thing to do is to respond to the review ASAP (within the review platform) to provide your side of the story to the public, and most importantly, show that you care about the bad feedback. It's also recommended you reach out to the customer personally, if possible, to try and reconcile the issue. Many times, that will convince the customer to amend, or remove the review. Remember, only the customer has the power to remove or edit their review.
WHAT DO I DO IF I GET A FRAUDULENT REVIEW?
This is a broad issue in the realm of digital reviews and is handled differently from platform to platform. Sometimes, a competitor will leave a fake negative review on a competitor's page, in attempt to hurt the business. If you get a fraudulent or spammy review, make sure you respond and point out you don't have record of them being a customer. Then, report the review to the system (Google, Yelp, Facebook) ASAP. Sometimes when you dispute the review, they will investigate it and eventually remove it from your profile.
CAN I JUST HAVE ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY LEAVE ME REVIEWS?
Having friends and family leave reviews, or posting reviews for yourself isn't necessary illegal or anything, but review systems like Google, Yelp, etc have advanced algorithms that monitor each review, and can identify if your reviews are coming in too frequently, or from the same source, etc, and in turn can flag the reviews and hide them from the public. So, feel free to have friends/family leave reviews, just beware of them possibly being screened. At the end of the day, it's crucial to collect genuine reviews from real customers, that will ultimately provide you the most benefits.
HOW MANY REVIEWS SHOULD I HAVE?
Obviously, the more reviews you have, the better. But it's not just about quantity or quality of the reviews...search engines and online consumers look at frequency and age of reviews.
